Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing / Investment

What exactly am I paying for?
A black pentagon shape with a white location pin icon in the center and the letter 'G' inside the pin.

Strategy, positioning, design, and implementation. You're paying for me to figure out how to position you in your market, clarify your messaging, create a visual identity that communicates that positioning, and apply it across your website and other places where you market your business (or your personal brand). You're also paying for my experience since I know what works and what doesn't after being in the industry for over 5 years.

Do you offer payment plans?
Minimalist black and white design featuring a white check mark enclosed within a white circular border on a black square background.

Yes. You will be expected to pay a deposit that is usually between 8-30% of the total amount. But generally my payment plans have always been super flexible and tailored to each person's situation, so just let me know what would work for you.

Are there extra costs I should know about?

This depends. When it comes to branding, if you are looking for a custom font, keep in mind that you'll have to purchase the font to use in Canva and on your website. Set aside a budget for the font, which could range from an extra $5-$100 depending on your budget and whether we're just designing a brand or also designing a website.

If you're setting up a new website, remember to budget for hosting (check Squarespace, Shopify, Elementor or Wix for their monthly or yearly rates, or even Bluehost for WordPress hosting) and a domain name (I suggest Namecheap). If this sounds confusing to you, don't worry, I'll be there to guide you every step of the way.

What if my budget is really tight?
Stylized red letter A with a horizontal break near the top, resembling a modern logo design on a white background.

Then we talk about what you can afford and what would make the biggest impact for your business right now. Maybe that's messaging and positioning without a logo or color palette. Maybe that's a brand kit instead of custom design. Maybe that's tweaking your website first and then redesigning it from scratch later. One thing I won't do is talk you into something that is outside of your budget.

The Process

What makes you different from other designers?
Icon of a light bulb with sharp and circuit-like rays representing an idea and technology.

I build brands for the outside-the-box thinkers who are bored with the usual industry norms, especially the idea that you have to "perform" or be "on" 24/7 just to get noticed.

As an introvert, I'd much rather build you a brand that does the heavy lifting for you and turn your website into a functional tool rather than just a pretty trophy.

I'm also pretty data-driven, so the clients who have gotten the best results have been the ones where we actually used real data to make decisions. On our initial calls we'll chat about what data is needed, so if you don't know how to do that, don't worry, I'll help you with that.

And if you already collect data, we'll be making decisions off of it. I also love helping multi-passionate people who are tired of being told to "pick a lane" figure out how to connect all their diverse ideas into a cohesive business that brings them joy and doesn't confuse their audience.

What if I don't like what you create?

I get why that's a scary thought...it's a huge investment, and you're basically handing over a part of your business to someone else. But I don't just disappear into a dark room and  come out later with something finished, hoping you like it.

Cause my job isn't to force my style on you, it's to get the vision you have in your head out into the world. And I don't have a big ego about my work. So if I show you something and you hate it, I want to know. There will be checkpoints throughout where we make sure we're on the same page before moving forward to the next stage. And if something isn't working? We change it. That's built into my process.

Most of my clients have loved what I created at first glance. And for the ones who didn't? We worked on it. To date, every single one has loved the end result and stuck with what I created for them for years. So we're not done until we've created something we're both genuinely excited to launch.

How will you "get" me and the aesthetic I'm going for?
Square outline containing a smaller circle and a diagonal curved line crossing the circle.

By talking to you. I'll be asking you a lot of questions about your business, your audience, what you like, what you hate, what makes you cringe. I'm basically pulling it out of you through conversation, not guessing. And if I get it wrong early on, you'll be able to tell me and we'll adjust as we go. There will be a few checkpoints to keep us on the same page.

What if I'm terrible at explaining my vision?

That's literally what I'm here for. I'm going to ask you specific questions about your business, your clients, your goals, your vibe, and personality, and from that, I'll figure out what you're looking for. Most of my clients aren't designers and have no idea how to explain what they want in design terms. That's completely fine cause that's my job to figure it out.

Can you match my brand or website to a specific style I've seen?
Black and white vector illustration of planets and stars forming a circular orbit around a central sun.

If you like a specific style or direction and want to explore something in that space, sure, we can talk about it. My brain is wired to figure out why you like a specific style and then I'll build something that actually fits your business. Instead of simply replicating what's already out there.

How involved do I need to be in the process?
Vector icon of an open eye symbol with a circular iris and eyelashes.

Okay so I'm not going to lie to you, this isn't a "fill out a form and disappear for 6 weeks" situation. I need you in this with me. But before you panic, the busiest part is at the beginning. During the first 4-5 weeks we'll be meeting once a week and really digging into the strategy and direction.

During that phase, you're probably looking at spending time on this project for at least 1-3 hours a week, depending on the week and what we're doing. But after that? It eases up. A lot.

Once we've nailed the foundation, we only meet when there's something specific to look at or decide on. At that point, you'll be investing 30 minutes to an hour on the project a week. So for a 3-4 month project, most of your time commitment is really in that first stretch. But I'll still be the one doing the heavy lifting.

Do we have to do video calls, or can we do this async?

We'll probably need at least 3 calls for strategy work, but most of the work can happen async if that's better for you. I'm not someone who needs to hop on Zoom for every little thing. If you hate calls, we can keep them minimal and do most communication through voice notes, videos, or written feedback. Whatever works for your brain.

Can I see examples of work you've done for other clients?

Sure, you can view my portfolio here

Does it matter what timezone I'm in?

No. I usually work with people from different time zones from different parts of the world.

Will this help me book more clients?

That’s the plan! A clear, confident brand and website makes people trust you and say yes faster.

AI Concerns

What's your actual stance on AI?

I'm more AI neutral. I love the good that AI can do. But I also hate that capitalism saw it and immediately went 'cool, now I can use it to fire people and do horrible things.' Between the silicon bros and the corporate greed, it's hard to be fully pro-AI.

So yeah, I'm neutral. I see it as just a tool and use it where it's helpful (like speeding up the tedious stuff) and skip it for everything else. If a client doesn't want me to use it at all, then I don't. I was doing this before ChatGPT, so that's not a problem. AI is just in the toolkit alongside every other tool I use.

Can't AI just do what you do?

Yes and no. AI is great until you have something specific in your head that you can't quite put into words. If you've ever argued with ChatGPT or Claude or whatever tool you use, you know what I'm talking about.

It can't pick up on what you're really trying to say underneath what you actually typed. It can't meet you in the fuzzy, half-formed, not-yet-a-sentence version of your vision and help shape it into something tangible. It needs to fit you into a box of some kind first. But you probably don't fit in one. That's where I come in.

And in the next few years, as more businesses adopt AI, more and more of them are going to start looking the same. Imagine every coffee shop in your country using AI to design their logo. There are going to be more similarities than differences.

And if you're looking to copyright your design, you currently can't do that with something AI-generated unless there's been significant human involvement in the process. So, if you just need something quick that "gets the job done," AI is a solid option. But if you're looking for something custom, creative, and legally yours, I'm your gal.

Technical Questions

What website platforms do you design for?

Squarespace, Wix, WordPress (Elementor), Shopify and Webflow. I'm also currecntly offering 30% off on website design for the first 3 people who sign up to get their website done on Showit.

Can I update my website myself after you build it?

Abso-freakin-lutely. I want you to be able to edit your website with confidence after we launch your website which is why I provide website training videos.

What format will I receive my brand files in?

PDFs, PNGs, JPGs, SVGs, and EPS files so you can confidently use your brand everywhere. This will include files you can use on your computer and for printing.

Do you provide ongoing support?

If you need it, yes. I offer a personalized monthly retainer for ongoing updates, design support, or troubleshooting.

Copywriting & Contractors

Do you also offer copywriting services?

No I don't, but I do provide a DIY Copywriting Guide to help you create your website copy if you can't work with a copywriter right now. But if you need me to help you find a copywriter (which I highly recommend), let me know in the discovery call.

Do you work with other contractors I hire (copywriters, developers, etc)?

Yes, if needed. If you're bringing in a copywriter or developer or photographer, I can coordinate with them to make sure everything works together. Just let me know who's involved and we'll figure out how to collaborate.
