shopify website for affirmation cards for kids

Kids Shopify Website Design

This project was all about creating a website for my client's kids' product line. She already had an established brand, so I built a sub-brand and Shopify site that pulls from her existing branding.

Project Highlights

Feels Confident Sharing Her Website

Judy wanted an e-commerce website that really represents her business. And now she had one that’s she’s proud of. She’s happy to share it with others because it shows off her work in a way that feels good to her.

The Entire Process Felt Smooth and Easy

From start to finish, Judy found the whole website creation process smooth and straightforward. When I asked if she would change anything about how it went, she couldn’t think of a single thing. It all felt easy and stress-free to her.

Feels Confident Managing Her Website

I taught Judy how to add new products to her online store. While she hasn’t needed to do this yet, knowing she can, makes her feel more in control, knowing she can make changes to her website by herself whenever she needs to.

The Goals

Judy already had a WordPress website for her Kids Meditation business, but she came to me with two new goals. She wanted to set up an online store for her new affirmation cards, and she needed a way for visitors to her existing website to learn about and purchase these cards.

Sometimes when people have multiple business ideas, they think they need to create a whole new brand for each one. But there's another option: a sub-brand. Basically a mini brand that lives under your main brand. So I created a dedicated Shopify website for her cards that uses her existing branding but it still feels connected to her main website.

The Process

I started by making a Shopify page just for selling the cards. We picked Shopify because it’s great for selling physical stuff like Judy’s cards. Then, I added a new store page to Judy’s WordPress-based Kids Meditation website. This page showed off the cards and pointed people to the Shopify store to buy them.

My Favourite Bits

She wanted to donate some of her earnings to mental health charities, so we added a page where customers can learn about different mental health charities. When they buy the affirmation cards, they can pick which charity they want a portion of their purchase to support. It was a simple addition that aligned with Judy’s values and gave her customers a chance to contribute too.

And the part that won me over

I absolutely love Eric the Penguin’s backstory. Eric is a penguin with a disability, and as someone who values inclusion, I loved seeing how his story could connect with all kids, whether they have a disability or not. I also enjoyed learning about Eric’s best friends: Penny, who reminds him of his mom, and Freddy, who’s a total goofball. I know the kids who get these affirmation cards will love these characters too.
